Fredrik Ljungkvist, a Swedish jazz clarinettist/saxophonist, is her husband.

The Lina Nyberg band made its first tour of the U.S. in 2013 and Canada in 2014. She has worked with Nisse Sandstrom, Bernt Rosengren and the Fredrik Noren Band throughout her career.

Lina has been working since 2013 on a trio of albums. She composes new music about the world, the elements for different settings, and explores the art of instrumentation. Part 1 of “Sirenades”, music for big band and her quintet, was released in 2014. Part 2 was “Aerials”, music for string quartet and her quintet in 2016. The final part, “Terrestrial,” was released by Hoob Records in the fall 2017. Lina created music for the NorrlandsOpera Symphony Orchestra (and her band), this time.

Nyberg formed her own band in 1990, the Lina Nyberg Quint. It consisted of Per “Texas”, Esbjorn and Dan Svensson as well as Mikel Ulfberg. Nyberg graduated from Stockholm Royal College of Music in 1993 as a Master of Fine Art. In 1993 she released her first solo album Close (1993), a duo recording of Nyberg and Esbjorn, a well-known Swedish trio. She also serves as record producer, singer, and composer. She released Palaver (Moserobie Records) in September 2011. Her music is a mix of Brazilian tropicalia and European free form, contemporary classic, the Great American Songbook and traditional jazz.
