1981 was her most notable international performance. She recorded a duet album with Pablo Milanes. They performed a repertoire of traditional Venezuelan songs as well as Cuban Nueva trova. Produced by the Areito (Cuba), and co- produced with Interamericana de Grabaciones. The record was recorded at EGREM studios, La Habana. It was pressed at 33 1/3 rpm. Universal Music Latino reissued it in CD format in 1998 and renamed it Pablo Milanes Con Lilia Vera.

Vera continued her vocal training in Caracas, and was then signed to the Promus record labels. She recorded two albums, Lili Vera Vol., in 1976. 2 and 3, and one in 1977 (Vol. 4). She also performed songs by musicians and songwriters Alberto Arvelo Torrealba and Simon Diaz, Conny Medez, and Luis Mariano Rivera. Vera released Lilia Vera Vol. In 1983, Vera released her album Lilia Vera Vol. 5 contains the traditional song “Tonada”, which was compiled by Indio Figueredo. There are also dozens of new songs. These four records were her best, with hits such as “El becerrito”, “Chucho y Ceferina”, “Clavelito Colorado”, “Lucerito”, and “La culebra”.

Lilia Vera was born in Caracas and began performing as a child. She sang popular Venezuelan songs on local TV and radio programs aimed at young audiences. She was a teenager when she got involved in a number of social causes, including non-violence and civil rights. After becoming a singer in 1972, she moved to colleges and universities to sing. In 1972, she joined the Nueva cancion, an emerging Latin American song movement. It was to spread across the Caribbean, Central, and South America during the 1970s and 1980s. All songs were composed by Otilio Galinez, a musician and poet. This album made a lasting impression on both new and existing audiences. These are all factors that make her art as powerful as his sensitive voice. They also have the ability to create an intimacy with her listeners which is impossible even for a foreign musical language.

In between, Vera collaborated with Simón Díaz in his record Duetos (1998), with Ilan Chester in Ofrenda para un niño (1999), and with Magdalena Sánchez in Duetos de leyenda (1999).
