Edelkoort started her career at De Bijenkorf, an Amsterdam department store. After completing her ArtEZ degree, she moved to France in 1975, where she established an independent trend consultancy. She quickly founded the trend forecasting company ‘Trend Union’ in Paris. Trend Union produces bi-annual trend forecasting books that provide colour and lifestyle information to the fashion and design community. Studio Edelkoort was established by her in New York City as a consulting bureau. She also opened Tokyo’s Edelkoort East office. She was appointed to manage a new textile design program at Parsons School of Design in September 2015.
