Liam Young Biography

Liam Young is one of the most popular and richest Designer who was born on March 13, 1979 in Australia, United Kingdom. In the Robot Skies was created by Forest Swords Young, a British electronic producer. It is a live cinema performance of the short film. Young directs the film collage and Forest Swords’ original soundscape as Young tells the story of a single drone that travels through time and space. The performance begins in WWI and tells the story about how drones evolved over time to become the dominant infrastructure that they are today. This performance was premiered at London’s 60th International FIlm Festival.

Young is the co-author of the book Series Unknown Fields : Tales From the Dark Side of the City. The current series consists of six books. Each book is an illustrated story that tells a story about a field trip through remote areas that are critical to the production and manufacture of modern technology. A number of the books were serialized on BBC. For example, A World Adrift: South China Seas and Inner Mongolia was created as three articles that explored the landscapes of modern technology. It was written with Tim Maughan. BBC’s Best of 2015 featured one of the stories about a radioactive lake that was discovered during research for the book.

With his nomadic studio Unknown Fields Young exhibited Unknown Fields: The Dark Side of the City at the Architectural Association Gallery in 2016. The exhibition took the form of a road trip through a collection of fragments; of drone footage, hidden camera investigations, speculative narratives and toxic objects that formed a reimagined city the size of the entire planet. The project looks at the way that the supply chains of technology is reforming landscapes all over the world. One of works in the exhibition Rare Earthenware, a set of radioactive vases made from the amount of toxic waste generated in the production of technology has since been acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum for their ceramics collection in London.

In 2016 Young co produced the documentary short Consumed which received a BAFTA nomination for Best British Documentary Short. The film is a cinematic journey through the landscapes, mines, factories, and shipyards of Chinese technology production. The film reveals the hidden world behind everyday objects and re-frames the complex supply chains that fuel Western consumerism.

Young teamed up with John Cale, a Welsh composer and musician who was formerly part of the Velvet Underground, to create the first drone orchestra in the world and the audiovisual performance LOOP >>60 Hz: Transmissions from the Drone Orchestra. Young created a group of drones in costume that would fly over the audience, carrying speakers that broadcast live music from the band. The Guardian says that the project “brings drones from the realms sinister terrorist surveillance, Amazon delivery, and puts them in your face like huge alien gnats”. The Telegraph reviewed the performance and described it as “demented joy”, which is a mix of an amateur airshow, and rock concert.
