Li Xi was born October 1956 in Liangdang County in Gansu province. In July 1975, he joined the workforce and was made a member of Communist Party of China in January 1982. Northwest Normal University was his graduation. His career began as an ordinary functionary at the Gansu party organisation’s provincial propaganda department. He held multiple positions within Gansu, including Party secretary for Xigu District in the provincial capital Lanzhou and Deputy Party secretary of Lanzhou.

Li Xi was formally named a member of China’s Politburo at the 19th Party Congress. Soon after the party congress on October 28, 2017, Li was transferred to Guangdong’s politically important southern province from Hu Chunhua, as the provincial party chief.

Li is an alternate member of both the 17th and 18th Central Committees of China’s Communist Party of China and a full member of China’s 19th Central Committee.

Chinese politician Li Xi is Chinese: Chinese: Li Xi; pinyin Li Xi; born October 1956. He is currently the Communist Party Secretary of Guangdong Province and a member of Politburo of China’s Communist Party of China. Li spent most of his life in northwestern China and was the party chief for the revolutionary base Yan’an. After serving as deputy party chief in Shanghai, he was then elected Governor of Liaoning Province. He was then elevated to party secretary.

Li was elected Party secretary of Yan’an, a province in the Shaanxi region, in 2006. Yan’an has a special significance for the Communist Party because it was the location of Mao’s revolutionary headquarters after the Long March. He was later transferred to Shanghai as Director of the municipality’s Organization Department and then as Deputy Party Chief. He was then transferred to Liaoning province in Northeast China as Acting Governor and the Deputy Party Chief. Later that year, he was elected Governor by the provincial legislature. He succeeded Wang Min in May 2015 as Communist Party Secretary to Liaoning and became the first-in-charge for the province.
