Levon Zourabian has been registered as a majoritarian contender for the 9th District in the 2012 parliamentary elections. He is also 5th on Armenian National Congress’ proportional electoral list.

Zourabian, who had been active in politics since 2007, resigned from International Crisis Group. He continued his public support for Ter- Petrossian’s candidacy through 2008 presidential elections. He was appointed Coordinator of the Central Office of the Armenian National Congress after its formation in 2008.

Levon Zourabyan was the son of Aram Zourabian and Agnesa Sevunts, prominent intellectuals. He is the son and screenwriter Agnesa Sevunts’ professor Aram Zourabian, as well as the grandson and writer Garegin Sevunts. He graduated in 1985 from Yerevan State University’s Theoretical Physics department. He worked as a researcher at Yerevan Physics Institute from 1989 to 1991. He published articles and conducted research on Quantum field theory and Supersymmetry and Supergravitation. In 1988, he became involved in the Karabakh Movement. He was first appointed as an aide to Levon Ter-Petrossian in 1991. In 1994, he was made the head of the press office. After Ter-Petrossian’s resignation, Zourabian resigned his position in 1998.

Zourabian received an Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellow in 1998, which enabled him to enroll at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He received a master’s in International Relations from Columbia University. After his return to Armenia he worked as Team Leader for IBM Business Consulting/PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Armenia office in 2001-2004. He was an analyst with the International Crisis Group from 2005 to 2007. He contributed to reports about the conflict in Nagorno–Karabagh, South Ossetia and the report on the Georgian conditions for Armenian and Azerbaijani minority minorities.
