Lesya Orobets is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 3, 1982 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Orobets was elected to the Verkhovna Rada’s 6th convocation. She prepared 35 regulatory proposals. These included proposals on reforming Ukraine’s higher educational system, standardizing independent evaluations as the sole criteria for university admission, increasing the right of citizens to basic education, a key proposition on regulation of charities, and the establishment of international charity funds. Eight of these regulations are in place. These regulations include “On public associations”, and “On the introduction a moratorium regarding the closing of secondary schools in rural area”. “On amendments of certain legislative acts to ban advertisements, sponsorships, and promotion of the sale of tobacco products” and “On amendments of certain legislative acts to Ukraine to adopt laws to limit the use of tobacco products smoking spaces.”
Orobets worked as a lawyer in the Kyiv law firm “Sota LTD” from January 2002 to March 2004. From March 2004 to September 2004, Orobets was an assistant- consultant for Yuriy Oborots, People’s Deputy Ukraine (Member Of Parliament), until that time. Orobets was a legal assistant at the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank in Kyiv from October 2004 to October 2005. Orobets was immediately hired as an employee representative at Baker & McKenzie in Kyiv. He remained there until February 2007.
In September 2007, Orobets was elected as a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 6th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament of Ukraine) as a part of the Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defence as a non-party candidate. Orobets also served as a member of the Committee on Education and Science, and was the head of the subcommittee on basic education.
Orobets is married to Oleksandr Omelchuk and has two daughters – Sofiya (16 December 2008) and Erika (25 August 2010). Omelchuk is Chairman of Phoenix Capital, a Ukraine-based investment bank.
Orobets studied law at the Ukrainian Humanitarian Lyceum Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv from 1996 to 1999. Orobets studied at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev from 1999 to 2005 after she graduated. She received a Master’s degree in International Law with a specialization English translation.

Lesya Yuuriyivna Obrobets (Ukrainian name: Lesia Iuriyivna Olrobets), a Ukrainian politician, has been a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine since 2007 (elected member of Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defence) and was re- elected as member of Batkivshchyna in 2012.
Orobets’ father, Yuriy Mykolayovych Orobets (Ukrainian : Iurii Mikolaiovich Orobets’ ), was a Ukrainian politician and People’s Deputy for Ukraine between 1994-1998 and 2002–2006. Yuriy Orobets was posthumously awarded the Hero of Ukraine award by President Viktor Yushchenko in 2007. Yuriy Obots was a staunch opponent of election fraud and administrative resources during the 2004 Mukachevo mayoral elections. After a car accident in suspicious circumstances, he died before a special inquiry committee released a report on illegal elections in Cherkasy. Oksana, a retired chemical engineer, was Oksana’s mother.

In 2010, Orobets mobilized citizens from Shulyavka and Solom’yanka (Kyiv districts) to protect the clean environment of Kyiv by attempting to put a stop to the construction of a waste incineration factory in a densely populated area in the capital, which was going to be built despite its illegality. This mobilization of citizens forced the government to make a decision relating to the closure of the factory.
