Brea made his major-league debut against the Kansas City Royals on August 13, 2000. He gave up six runs in his first major league appearance, which was against the Kansas City Royals. The Orioles lost by 10-5. He pitched in eight more major league games over the next two seasons, allowing 15 earned runs in 11 innings for an ERA 12.27. He continued to struggle with control, walking 13 batters, striking out five and also throwing one wild pitch. His only decision was the August 13 loss.

Brea left the Orioles as a minor league free agent after the 2002 season. He signed with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays but did not make the team out of spring training and was released on March 10, 2003. Brea spent the remainder of that year, his last as a professional, with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League.
