Leanne Benjamin is one of the most popular and richest Ballet Dancer who was born on July 13, 1964 in Rockhampton, Australia. Leanne Faye Benson AM OBE (born 13 July 1964) is a retired Australian ballet dancer who was principal dancer at the Royal Ballet in London.
In 2005, at the British New Years Honours, Benjamin was made the rank of Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her dedication to dance. A decade later, during the 2015 Australia Day Honours, Benjamin was made a member of the Order of Australia for significant contribution to the performing arts specifically ballet as an actor and role model.
In honour of her career with The Royal Ballet, the Leanne Benjamin Awards were launched at a public masterclass at The Royal Ballet School on 12 June 2014. The awards were created and will be administered by The Tait Memorial Trust, of which Leanne Benjamin is a Patron.
In 2004, and 2009, she was awarded in 2004 and 2009 the National Dance Award for Best Female Dancer.

Benjamin began ballet classes at the age of four in the Jan Moore School of Dance in Rockhampton. She and her sister took ballet lessons under Valeria Hansen. The year was 1980 when she got admitted in the Royal Ballet School at age 16. Within one year, she was awarded two prestigious awards, including the Adeline Genee Gold Medal and Prix de Lausanne.
Her first year with the Company in 1992 and became an Assistant Principal by the end of the spring of the season. She also served as a Principal for Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, English National Ballet and Deutsche Opera Ballet and performed in the Morphoses/The Wheeldon company in New York City Center in the year 2008. She was let go from the Royal Ballet in July 2013 after 21 years of service to the company.
In January 2014, Leanne Benjamin was awarded the Critics’ Circle de Valois award for outstanding achievement.
