Lawrence Akugizibwe is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 2, 1985 in Kyenjojo, Kyenjojo District, Uganda. Lawrence Akugizibwe (born 2 November 1985) is a Ugandan farmer, horticulturist and writer, conservationist, and politician. He is elected to the Mwenge County, North of Uganda and also a representative of NRM, the main political group in Uganda. He is an active part of both the Committee on HIV/AIDS & Related Diseases as well as the Committee on Agriculture in the 10th Parliament of Uganda.

After completing his bachelors degree after graduation, he worked as a greenhouse supervisor at Royal Van Zanten Uganda in 2012, and then being an agriculture expert with HEWASA which is the sanitation, water and sanitation department at Caritas Fort Portal. In 2014, Akugizibwe was offered the position of NAADS director to the Bufunjo Subcounty in Kyenjojo District.

Within the Parliament of 10th, Akugizibwe sits as a member of the Committee on HIV/AIDS & Related Diseases as well as The Committee on Agriculture. He is a member of the Parliamentary Forum for Climate Change Uganda (PFCC-U) and the Uganda Parliamentarians Forum on Food Security, Population and Development (UPFFSP&D) and the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Youth Affairs (UPFYA) and the NRM Parliamentary Caucus. He also serves as Secretary of the Rwenzori Parliamentary Group.

In 2015, Akugizibwe resigned from NAADS to join elective politics on the NRM ticket where he defeated eight candidates in the party’s primaries among whom was the then incumbent David Muhumuza. He went on to win the general elections in 2016 and became a member of the 10th Parliament for the Pearl of Africa representing Mwenge County North in Kyenjojo District.
