She is an Australian actor. Foell is most well-known for her character of Angela “Angie” Russell and her cousin Josie in the popular Australian soap opera on television Home and Away. Foell was also seen as the character Dr. Justine Jones in the long-running New Zealand hospital soap Shortland Street.

In 2005, she played the role of a regular guest for six weeks for the show Shortland Street. In 2005, she played Justine Jones, an ambitious career- driven doctor who was hired to work with the Dr. Chris Warner (played by Michael Galvin) with the Plastics Unit. Justine utilized her position to take advantage of Chris and ultimately took the contract from him and re-deployed the job to Australia. Then, in July of 2006 Laurie Foell reprised her Shortland Street role full-time, and with Justine getting a controversial post as a senior surgeon in the hospital.

One year later, viewers were stunned at the news during the 2003 season finale that the new character Tasha (played by Isabel Lucas) was Angie’s daughter. This move caused Foell returning on the show for a brief time in 2004 as Angie in 2004 to play the role of visions of terror engulfing Tasha. Foell came back to the series in the month of August of 2004 in a different role as her cousin Josie Russell, whom she played from June to June 2005.

Shortland Street producer Jason Daniel said Justine Jones was a popular character, central to both current and upcoming storylines, hence the decision to recast the role, a first for the kiwi soap opera.
