Lassina Zerbo (born 10 October 1963) is the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, the position he took on from 1 August 2013. He was previously the Director of the organisation’s International Data Centre (IDC). He is a resident and a citizen of Burkina Faso. Zerbo has played a key role in establishing the CTBTO’s status as the world’s center of excellence in nuclear test ban verification, and in advancing efforts towards the coming into force and the worldwide implementation of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).

As the Director of CTBT’s International Data Centre (IDC) between 2004 and 2013 he served as the central point of contact for CTBT-related issues relating to the nuclear tests carried out in Korea’s Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the years 2006, 2009 and 2013. Zerbo was the director of his team at the CTBT Science and Technology conferences in 2013 and 2011 and was responsible for the successful implementation of the CTBT virtual Data Exploitation Centre (vDEC) that provides an innovative way to interact with the scientific community in general. This collaboration ensures that the CTBTO remains in the forefront of technology and verification related science.

In 2015 he became a Commander of the National Order of Burkina Faso for his work towards the preservation of peace and international security.

He was also decorated with the Grand Cross in the Chilean Order of Bernardo O’Higgins in June 2016.

Following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Zerbo led technical discussions around the agreement for CTBTO technical assistance for tsunami warning centres. Zerbo was the custodian for all technically sensitive information belonging to the organisation, and was requested in the aftermath of the tsunami, earthquake as well as the Fukushima nuclear power station disaster within Japan in March of 2011. He continues to be responsible for approving the disclosure of the details in the hands of Member States as well as their organizations in accordance with the requirements of the Treaty.
