Kevin Elijah Burgess was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on the 21st July in 1988 into an army family. After his birth, his parents relocated into Southern Illinois where he was raised for eight years. At the age of 8 old, the parents split up and he was relocating together with her mother, to the south side in St. Petersburg, which according to Burgess is “probably one of the worst areas in the state.” He performed well in school and was offered the chance to attend college in an educational program called St. Petersburg Collegiate High School. However, despite the opportunity however, he was plagued by extreme depression, and tried a variety of substances to alleviate the symptoms. He was struggling in school because of his issues with his life in general, and even considered suicide.

In February, 2014 KB announced his latest album, titled 100. It was released on March 4, 2014. Burgess was featured in the Family Force 5 music video for the track “BZRK”, released on May 23rd, 2014, in which Burgess is the featured artist.

On October 20, 2017, KB released his third studio album Today We Rebel. The first single off the album “Tempo” was released a year prior to the album’s release date. The second single off the album “Monster” featuring Aha Gazelle was released on September 15, 2017.

In 2020, he announced that he would not be renewing his contract with Reach Records, and instead signed with Essential Sound, a Sony Music imprint.

On May 30 2013 Reach announced a project in four parts named “1st & 16th”. The project will consist of Burgess release a new single every 1st and 16th of the months of June and July. In June 1 part 1, HCB Freestyle was released. Its songs Ride as well as Be All Right were also part of the 1st and 16th projects.

Kevin Elijah Burgess (born July 21st 1988) more popularly known by the stage name KB is an American Christian hip hop artist and music manager who hails from St. Petersburg, Florida. He is the founder of the hip-hop collective HGA. He signed a solo artist deal with Reach Records in 2010. The label launched The Who Is KB? mixtape in 2011 Weight & Glory, on July 17 2012, followed by The 100 EP was released on the 4th of March 2014 Tomorrow We Live on April 21 in 2015, and Today We Rebel on the 20th of October 2017. He’s also a part of the collective label 116 Clique. The label signed him to Sony Music imprint Essential Sound in the year 2020.

Burgess joined Reach Records in 2010, and was featured in the compilation album Rehab from Lecrae. His mixtape Who’s KB? was released a year later and also shows together with PRo as well as Tedashii. What is KB? received 30,000 downloads in the next year. His debut song, “Hello”, featured Suzy Rock. It was released in October of the year 2011. Then, in January of 2012 a new single “Zone Out” featuring Chris Lee Cobbins was released. Burgess was then featured alongside Andy Mineo on the Trip Lee album The Good Life. A third track by Burgess, “Go Off” included Tedashii , and Andy Mineo, and was released in June. In the next month the album he released, his debut Weight & Glory was released.

On February 3, 2015, KB took to social media to reveal his second studio album, Tomorrow We Live, along with the cover and release date. It was scheduled to be released on April 21, 2015. The first single off the album “Sideways” featuring Lecrae was released on February 23, 2015. The second single “Crowns & Thorns (Oceans)” was released on March 10, 2015.
