Katrina Hanse-Himarwa is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 22, 1967 in Hoachanas, Hardap Region, Namibia. Katrina Hanse Himarwa (born 23 January 1967 located in Hoachanas) was a Namibian politician from Namibia. A part of Namibia’s SWAPO political party. She was in the position of Minister for Education, Arts and Culture between 21 March 2015 and 9 July 2019.
In July 2019 , Hanse-Himarwa was found to be guilty of corruption and lying under the oath. A judge Christie Liebenberg at the Windhoek High Court found that she employed her office to earn money during her time as the Governor of the Hardap Region to remove listed names from a national housing project to benefit one of her family members. The lawyer representing her was Sisa Namandje, who wasn’t present at the time of the issuance of the decision.
The day following the decision on July 9, 2019, Hanse-Himarwa resigned from her post as education minister. Martin Andjaba succeeded her in an interim position since the next parliamentary elections were only two months away. Hanse-Himarwa was sentenced an N$50 000 fine on July 31, 2019, at the Windhoek High Court, becoming the third high-ranking official from the SWAPO Party since Tobie Aupindi and Marina Kandumbu to be sentenced. She is still in the parliament.
