In 2008, Shaidle along with journalist Pete Vere wrote and published The Tyranny of Nice, which was a critique of Canadian the human rights courts in Canada. In 2009, her writing is published in publications like FrontPage Magazine, Pajamas Media, Examiner.com and, as of the year 2011, Taki’s Magazine. Shaidle was the blogger for Relapsed Catholic (2000-2007) and an article in The Catholic daily Our Sunday Visitor. In September 2007, she started her own blog called Five Feet of Fury, a reference to her slim size and a savage writing style. In Hamilton, Ontario, Shaidle was educated at Sheridan College. In the late 1980s, she been working in Toronto before settling down to an article in The Catholic New Times magazine. Then, in 1991 she resigned from the publication to work full-time about government grants but was surprised to discover just a few weeks later she was suffering from lupus erythematosus. Her illness lasted four years and was the basis for her essay collection in 1998 God Rides on a Yamaha.
In the early 1990s, she released two poetry chapbooks through her Toronto Indie presses Lowlife Publishing, which also published Lynn Crosbie and Maggie Helwig. The book-length collection of poetry Lobotomy Magnificat was nominated in 1998 for a Governor General’s Award. The critic Wendy McGrath, writing in the Edmonton Journal, praised the poems for the way the poem “effectively relates sacred images or text to present day events and images.” The Montreal Gazette’s reviewer had a negative view to the text’s “diet of smart phrasing… and fabricated insights.”
In 2008, human rights lawyer Richard Warman sued Shaidle, Ezra Levant, Kate McMillan of Small Dead Animals and the National Post over links to comments criticizing him at a Canadian internet forum, freedominion.ca. The National Post settled with Warman soon after the suit was launched and, in June 2015, Shaidle, Levant and McMillan all settled in exchange for undisclosed amounts and the issuance of public retractions and apologies.
