Kateryna Serebrianska is one of the most popular and richest Rhythmic Gymnast who was born on October 25, 1977 in Simferopol, Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine. Kateryna Serebrianska (born 25 October 1977 in Simferopol) is an Ukrainian former gymnast of the individual style. She was an 1997 Olympics gold medalist and the World All-around champion of 1995 as well as a two-time (1995,1996) european All-around champion and three times Grand Prix Final All around champion.

In 1997, at the European Championships in Greece, Serebrianska dropped a ball at the end of her all-round-clubs routine (9.825) however, her she scored 9.950 on the ribbon and rope and 9.912 on the hoop earned her the total score of 29.637 and thus the bronze medal 0.012 over her French opponent, Eva Serrano. In the finals for apparatus she took gold in the rope event , scoring an unbeatable 10.000 and was awarded silver in the ribbon and clubs events. She did not participate in 1997 World Championships due to an illness that her mother suffered. In her last major event at the 1998 European Championships, she reached the final of each of the apparatus events. She took gold in the final of the hoop (9.950) and silver in the rope (9.933). She also took bronze at the ribbon competition (9.933) and tied with Evgenia Pavlina from Belarus as well as Yanina Batyrchina from Russia however, she won the gold medal because of the tie-breaker scoring system that was introduced in recent years. She was placed sixth (lost during the tiebreaker event to Belarusian, Yulia Raskina) in the all-round final.

Serebrianska joined the Bulgarian Maria Petrova for the all-round title in the 1995 World Championships in Vienna, Austria. She also won a variety of individual titles in apparatus: rope at 1993 World Championships in Alicante, Spain and Hoop (tied to Belarusian Larissa Lukyanenko as well as Bulgarian Maria Petrova), ball (tied with Ukrainian teammate Olena Vitrychenko) ribbon, clubs and clubs at the 1994 World Championships in Paris, France and balls (tied to Russians Yanina Batyrchina, and Amina Zaripova) during the 1995 Worlds in Vienna, Austria; and another time in 1996 in Hungary. The sweep of all four finals event gold medals at the 1994 World Championships is one of only two occasions in the history of sport that this has happened with the other being Alexandra Timoshenko, and was an even greater feat due to her mistakes during the All Around final put her fourth after being predicted to take the title (ironically Timoshenko in 1991 also did not win her All Around title, coming second to teammate Oksana Skaldina prior to winning the final event golds). She also took home the 1996 European all-round title, along with team gold and gold medals on the ribbon, ball and rope finals.

Serebrianska was born in Simferopol, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. She began gymnastics when she was just 4, with her mom Liubov coaching her at Simferopol’s Gratsia gymnastics club located in Simferopol. Later, she moved to Kiev, the Ukrainian capital city, Kiev where she trained in The Deriugins School.
