The girl was born as Katarzyna Libudzisz on July 24, 1969, in Lodz to her mother Zdzislawa Professor of microbiology, and father Jerzy the scientist. Her family lived in Lodz from the second part of the 19th century. The school she attended was Tadeusz Kosciuszko High School, No. 3 in Lodz (Polish: III Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace im. Tadeusza Kosciuszki at Lodzi) in addition to The University of Lodz. She was briefly an elementary school teacher, but decided to pursue her studies in the University of Lodz where she was appointed a lecturer in the Faculty of Mathematics. She received the PhD qualification in Mathematics in 2001. she completed her doctoral dissertation on Limit Theorems in Quantum Probability. She was later promoted to the position as assistant professor in the Department of Probability Theory and Statistics.

She wrote articles for the Liberte! magazine, and was among those who organized the Festival of Science, Technology and Arts in Lodz. In 2015, along with Leszek JAZDZEWSKY, she was one of the main initiators for the Secular School campaign that was aimed at reducing state funding for religious education classes at all public institutions across Poland.

In 1993, she was a member of The Democratic Union and in 1994 it was it was the Freedom Union where she was one of the local leaders of the party in Lodz. From 1998 to 2002 she was a part of the Lodz city council. In 2001 she was one of the candidates for directorship of the Freedom Union in Lodz. She was on the previous General Board of the Freedom Union and in 2005, she became one of the founders of the newly formed Democratic Party – demokraci.pl. She was unsuccessfully elected to the Sejm in 2001 and in 2005.

Katarzyna Anna Lubnauer (nee Libudzisz born on 24 July 1969) is a Polish politician, mathematician, and academic instructor. The politician is also a part of the Polish Parliament, and was a past leader in the Liberal Modern (.Nowoczesna) Political party.

During the Polish parliamentary elections in 2015, as a candidate of the Modern political party, she won a seat in the Sejm running from the first position on the party’s election list in the Łódź constituency. She received a total of 18 549 votes. In 2016, she was appointed deputy chairman of the party, and from January to May 2017 she was its spokesperson. In April the same year, she also assumed the position of the chairperson of the parliamentary group of the Modern party. On 25 November 2017, during the party’s congress in Warsaw, she was elected the leader of the Modern party defeating in a close vote its original founder Ryszard Petru. On 9 January 2018, she was replaced by Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz as the chairperson of the Modern party’s parliamentary group. In November 2019, she stepped down as leader of the party and was replaced by Adam Szłapka.
