Frostenson along with her partner Arnault operated a place that showcased artwork in Stockholm known as Forum. Forum received financial support from the Swedish Academy, which sparked accusations of conflicts of interests. In the year of 2018, Frostenson was accused of corruption in the same way as Arnault was accused of sexual abuse and corruption that were leveled against Arnault. The Academy eventually decided to not expel Frostenson. This led to removal of three members of the academy. Frostenson demanded that she not be penalized for the misdeeds by her husband. But she decided to choose to leave the Academy, receiving a lifetime payment of 12,875 Swedish Kronor per month, as well as the right living in an apartment leased to the Academy.
Her numerous awards are among them her being awarded the Great Prize of the Society of Nine (1989), the Bellman Prize (1994), the Swedish Radio Prize for Lyrical Poetry (1996) The Erik Lindegren prize (2004) The Ekelof Prize (2007), the Nordic Council Literature Prize (2016) and the Litteris et Artibus medal (2007).

Alma Katarina Frostenson Arnault (born 5 March 1953) is an Swedish writer and poet. She was elected a fellow of the Swedish Academy in 1992. The year 2003 was the year that Frostenson received the title of Chevalier from the Legion of Honour in recognition for her contributions to literature.
Frostenson is among Sweden’s most renowned poets, with an aesthetic that is both experimental and traditional. Her works include I mellan (1978), I det gula (1985) and Joner (1991) and she has also published a collection of lyrical prose titled Berattelser frandom (1992) that is about an ancient race who, due to the loss of their language, become alienated to the world.
