She was born in Dhaka in the former East Pakistan to Azizul Huque Morshed and Momena Jahan. She is third among five siblings. She began her music instruction from her parents. In her professional career, she performed almost 3000 songs and released more than 30 albums of her own. In 1978, she appeared on TV for the very first time. As a young singer, she was crowned champion of Notun Kuri in the year 1978. She was awarded the championship prize to “Jatiyo Shishu Protijogita” for three consecutive years. The artist was the direction of the artist Ustad Basir Ahmed for 12 years.

Since the age of a child, Kanak Chapa’s father gave her her first lessons in singing. Morshed was a singer who was amateur as well as a painter who was a pupil at Zainul Abedin. Kanak Chapa came from into a traditional family.
