Chart was born the 6th of February 1960, in Los Angeles, California, to Lee Chart and Betty Chart. His father was an experienced boxer who was from Brooklyn, New York. His mother was an experienced opera singer. As an opera singer she performed mostly throughout New York, Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California where she ultimately resided. Chart says that his mother was the first influence on his career in music. Chart began playing piano when he was five and at 11 years old, he had learned the clarinet and the sax. When he was a teenager, he was selected to make an album with two orchestras as a soloist. After graduating from high secondary school Chart was a student in The School of The Performing Arts in London, England.

The year 2012 was the time that Chart created, composed and sang “Los Angeles The Song”. It’s described as a bouncy love song that pays tribute to his hometown city. On April 19 2013, Chart released a second track “We Rock The World” and a music video featuring his band.
