Yagami was born on the 29th of the year 1958 in Nagoya, Chubu, Japan as the oldest granddaughter of Ryozo Yagami Chairman of the fourth and founding of Yagami Mfg. Co. Ltd. Yagami began playing piano when she was three and Japanese dancing in the age of 1. Yagami remembered, “I’ve loved singing ever since I was a little girl, and sang the songs of The Peanuts (zapinatsutsu ) and Shirley Bassey songs towards the wall at home.” She went to Aichi Shukuto Senior High School. After finishing the high school in 1976, she began to pursue music from 1976 to the present. Her professional debut was in the year 1980. Following making her first appearance, she was on a show titled “Dede and Junko’s Music Trip”.

As of the year 2019 she is a resident of America. United States and remains active as a recording and concert performer in the US as well as Japan.
