Junior Witter is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on March 10, 1974 in Bradford, England, United Kingdom. Junior Witter (born 10 March 1974) is a British professional boxer who fought between 1997 and the year 2015. He was the holder of the WBC light world title from 2006 to 2008 and was a challenger to win the IBF light world title in 2000. At the regional level he was titles including the British as well as the Commonwealth light worlderweight title from 2002 until 2005 as well as his EBU European Union lightweight weight title in 2003; as well as in 2003, the EBU European light worlderweight title from 2004 until 2005, and also the British Welterweight title in 2012.

After the Bradley loss, Witter returned to the ring on the 8th of November 2008, and scored a 3rd-round beating against Argentinian Victor Hugo Castro. Witter knocked down his opponent in the second round but was unable to finish the fight due to the bell ending the fight in the next round. Witter was then offered the opportunity to defend his former WBC title after the month of May, 2009 Timothy Bradley was stripped of the belt after he decided not to face his mandatory opponent Devon Alexander. This gave Witter an opportunity to face Alexander to win the vacant belt. The fight was held in California 1 August 2009, with Alexander being far too tough to the previous champion Witter taking a knee injuries in round 4 and being forced to withdraw after round eight. Because of the injury, Witter would not return to the ring until the 19th of February, one year and a half after losing to Alexander. The second fight, this time located in Ontario, Canada, resulted in another defeat for Witter after he was defeated in a bout of the course of 10 rounds Romanian boxer Victor Puiu for the WBC International silver title in the welterweight division. On the 7th of June, 2011, Witter took part in the welterweight portion of the Prizefighter event in the York Hall in London and defeated Nathan Graham and Kevin McIntyre in the final. At the end, Witter fell short of a majority points win in favor of Moroccan Born fighter Yassine El Maachi, who won the tournament’s top prize amount of PS32,000.

Witter’s first fight as a professional took place in January 1997 and scored a draw over Cameron Raeside at the Green Bank Leisure Centre in Derbyshire. He scored his first win as a professional in his next fight, travelling to Yarm to beat John Green over six rounds. Five more fights happened in 1997 (all wins) for Witter to end the year with a record of 6-0-1. Witter’s next year as a professional started in the same way as his first; a draw over Mark Grundy! Despite this he fought four more times during the year meaning that at the end of only his second year as a pro he had compiled of record of 12-0-2 scoring decent wins along the way over the likes of Jan Piet Bergman (35-1) and Mark Winters (13-1). In February of 2005, Witter travelled to Los Angeles to take part in an WBC Leicht Welterweight eliminator against the Australian-based Lovemore N’dou. The match, which doubled as a second defence of the Commonwealth title was concluded with an 11-round points decision victory for the man who hails from Bradford. In July of that year, Witter was back at Nottingham’s Ice Arena in Nottingham to beat Ukrainian Andriy Kotelnik. Witter’s response to his initial loss was to take the usual route in order to take another shot at the World belt. Witter continued to fight six times following the Judah defeat , beating some of the top names in the sport like Steve Conway (TKO 4) and Colin Mayisela (TKO 2) prior to, in March 2002, he faced Alan Bosworth for the vacant British light welterweight title, claiming the belt by stopping at the end of the third. His next match saw him clinch his vacant Commonwealth title after a victory by beating Ghanain Laatekwei Hammond. Two other combats that he took part in during the year 2002 helped him knock out Lucky Sambo in a non-title fight, and Italian Giuseppe Lauri in an eliminator to win the WBO light Welterweight title.

September 2006 finally saw Witter win a world title when he challenged American Demarcus Corley for the vacant WBC light welterweight belt at the Alexandra Palace in Wood Green. Eighteen fights and eighteen wins since losing to Zab Judah in 2000 Witter had finally achieved the pinnacle of his career so far. Two defences of the title followed in 2007 with wins over Mexican Arturo Morua (TKO 9) and Guyanan Vivian Harris (KO 7) before on 10 May 2008, losing the belt to mandatory challenger Timothy Bradley via split decision. Following his loss to Bradley, Witter declared he would continue fighting at a professional level and vowed to return to the ring to reclaim his WBC crown. Bradley commented that he would be happy to offer Witter a rematch if the money was right.
