Cadougan was a student at the Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute in Toronto during his freshman year. He was on the junior basketball team of the school and scored 37 points in the very first contest. After the shooting incident of 2005 and on the recommendation by his assistant coach Ro Russell Cadougan moved onto Community Christian School in Stockbridge, Georgia, joining his fellow prospect and friend Olu Ashaolu. In his first year of college in the school, he scored 18.8 scores per match. In his senior season, the team won a second consecutive conference championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. That season, he averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, was named to the Big East All-Academic Team, and won the Big East Sportsmanship Award.
