Schenk was close to an Olympic bronze medal in her attempt to win a bronze medal at the World Championship in Hyderabad in singles for women, but fell her match to French Pi Hongyan in the final set 19:21. It could have been a second award for German women following the shared bronze medals won by the Chinese Xu Huaiwen as well as Petra Overzier in 2006.
In 2008 Schenk competed in the Beijing Olympics. She narrowly lost her first round match against Indonesian Maria Kristin Yulianti who later won the bronze medal.
She won the bronze medal at the 2008 European Badminton Championships.
The BWF Superseries was launched on December 14, 2006 and adopted in 2007 is a series of tournaments for elite badminton that are sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). BWF Superseries has two levels which are the Superseries and the Superseries Premier. The Superseries season Superseries includes twelve tournaments across the globe, which were introduced in 2011with the highly successful players being accepted to participate in finals at the BWF Superseries Finals held at the end of the year.
