As a sophomore (2003-2004), Terrell began his season as the team’s starting center following the transfer of All-Freshman SEC Team player Brian Thornton. Terrell ended the year with an average of 6.4ppg, 4.2rpg, 49.7 percent FFG, 59.5% FT in 32 games. As an undergrad (2004-2005), Terrell again was named as a player. Terrell ended his season with an average of 6.8ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.1bpg, 1.4asg, 50% FFG, 60.5% FT in 33 games. Terrell only missed one game due to the tragic loss of his maternal grandmother Rosemary Terrell. Mrs. Rosemary Terrell died on the 26th of January in 2005. The previous month, her the roommate as well as Vanderbilt University starting Running back Kwane Doster was killed during a holiday in his hometown of Tampa, Florida. In the summer of 2005 Terrell was part of team USA All-Star squad to participate at the Nationen Cup in Munster, Germany. As an adult (2005-2006), Terrell was chosen captain of the team by coaches and teammates. Terrell completed the season with an average of 10.5ppg, 7.2rpg, 1.2bpg, 1.8asg, 51.7% of FG, and 63% FT, in 33 games. Terrell participated and was in every game during his senior season.

Terrell was a student at Ezell-Harding Christian School, where he was the Head Coach Christopher Burnette. In his junior year (2000-2001) the player led his team to a an all-time school record of 33-2. Two of the losses were in the first contest of the season, and during the TSSAA class A State Championship game against the future Vanderbilt colleague Jason Holwerda. The team was defeated by 3 points (57-54). As the senior (2001-02) the player scored 17 points on average, with 10 rebound, and three blocks. He led Ezell-Harding (27-5) into its 2nd TSSAA Class A State Championship in two years. The Eagles fell short losing this time against Tennessee Temple 58-45. He was named to the first team of All-State. He was also named to the first team of All Mid- State. Terrell later signed an National Letter of Intent with Vanderbilt University and head coach Kevin Stallings.
Terrell has signed with Vanderbilt University in November 2001. He picked Vanderbilt ahead of the University of Alabama, University of Connecticut, University of Kentucky and the University of Tennessee due to the relationship he developed through the Commodores coaching staff during the process of recruiting.
