He played his entire time at the club playing for FC Barcelona. It was in 1979 that Epi was the first player to make an appearance in his senior Spanish nation’s team. In Spain’s senior national squad He played in 239 games over an extended period of 15 years (1979-1994). He’s in second place all-time for senior national team games with Spain (behind J. C. Navarro). The only Spanish national team member who was a part of the four Summer Olympic Games, from the (1980 Moscow Summer Olympics, until in 1992 at the Barcelona Summer Olympics).

San Epifanio who is referred to by nearly everyone simply as “Epi”, grew up in Zaragoza and then began to play basketball in his hometown of Zaragoza. The year 1973 was the time Epi was a debutant for his team, CN Helios, in the Spanish third division. However, his club ended up rejecting Epi. The year 1974 was the first time FC Barcelona signed his older brother, Herminio, to a contract. Herminio was then insistent that Epi would be a part of the club and the two made the move to Barcelona.
