Jual Oram Biography

Jual Oram is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on March 22, 1961 in Sundergarh, Odisha, India. Oram is born March 22, 1961 to a tribal poor family in the town in Kendudihi, Sundergarh district, Orissa (present-day Odisha) to Dilga and Bhutuki Oram. He earned a diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Utkalmani Gopabandhu Institute of Engineering. Prior to entering politics Oram was employed as an assistant foreman with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. In an interview with The Telegraph (Calcutta), Oram claimed that he would continue working in the company had he not been involved in politics.

It was 1998 when Oram became a member of the Lok Sabha from the Sundargarh constituency. Oram was elected to the Parliament the year following. Following the time that the Prime Secretary Atal Bihari Vajpayee constituted the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the ministry was inaugurated as the Ministry’s first minister on the 13th of October.

Oram lost from his Sundargarh constituency in 2009. On 22 December 2009, he was made the party president of the state unit for the third time. In July 2012, he alleged that former Chief Minister of Odisha Hemananda Biswal had forged his caste certificate. On 1 April 2013, he was appointed vice president of the party.

On 18 May 2014, Oram was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Sundargarh constituency after defeating Dilip Tirkey of the Biju Janata Dal. He was also the only candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party to win from Odisha. On 26 May, he took oath as the Tribal Affairs minister in the Narendra Modi ministry. In the following month, he announced that the central government would create a tribal map of India which would help in introducing new projects and schemes for the tribals.

The year 1989 was the time that Oram was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party elected him as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Bonai constituency the following year and was elected for two terms, until 1998. He was the vice-president of the national party unit in the BJP ST Morcha (Scheduled Tribes wing) between 1993 until 1995. After serving for two years as the secretary for national for the party, his name was named party president of State unit of the party in the year 1997. He was in the post until 1999.
