After Wong’s appearance at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court on 27 November 2014, he was pelted with eggs by two assailants. They were arrested and each fined $3,000 in August 2015, sentences which, on application for review by the prosection, were subsequently enhanced to two weeks’ imprisonment.
In the same month, a report appeared on The Pro-Beijing publication Wen Wei Po alleging that Wong was in contact with the US consul general in Hong Kong Stephen M. Young in the course of his visit in the year 2011. The article implied that Wong had connections to an organization called the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, which had claimed to have offered him military training from an army of the US Army. Wong said that the allegations were purely fake in that they were “more like jokes.”
