Joseph Ganapathiplackal Abraham (born 11 September 1981) is an Indian track and field athlete from Kerala. Abraham holds the current 400-metre hurdles record in the State of Kerala of 49.51 seconds, which was set at the World Championships in Athletics in Osaka on the 26th of August, 2007. In Osaka, Abraham became the first Indian male athlete to win the first stage of an event during the World Athletics Championships when he was in the semifinals for the 400m hurdles. Abraham also took home the gold medal for the 400m hurdles at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

On the 25th of November, 2010 Abraham was the very first Indian to take home an the individual Gold Medal at 400m Hurdles at an Asian Games. He took home Gold at the the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games clocking a time of 49.96 seconds.

At the end of June in 2009 Abraham reached the minimum qualifying standard of 49.80 seconds to qualify for the Berlin World Championships, at the Indian Grand Prix meet in Chennai with a time of 49.59 seconds. The following year, he took home the Silver medal in the 400m hurdles (with an average that was 49.96 second) during the 2010 Asian Championships in Athletics held in Guangzhou, China.
