Joseba Beloki is one of the most popular and richest Sport Cyclist who was born on August 12, 1973 in Lazkao, Basque Country, Spain. Joseba Beloki Dorronsoro (born 12 August 1973) is a Spanish professional road bike racer.

In 2006, he was one of the people who were involved in Operacion Puerto, and was then removed out of that year’s Tour de France. On the 26th of July Beloki was cleared by Spanish authorities of all violations. The payment records of Beloki along with his race calendar were discovered in Eufemiano Fuentes his possession at his office. However, Beloki denies any claim that he puffed with Fuentes.

For the 2004 season Beloki signed with his French club Brioches La Boulangere in preparation for the 2004 Tour de France. Beloki was said to be completely recovered from his injuries in the beginning of 2004, however, it was later revealed that his injuries took more time to recover than originally was. At the time of the middle of April 2004 Beloki was still not ready to start serious racing for the rest of the season. Beloki began his home race with that of the Tour of the Basque Country however, he was unable to finish the first stage before withdrawing in pain from injuries. Due to his issues with his French team, the French changed into team Spanish Saunier Duval Prodir squad to finish the remainder year of the 2004 campaign. Beloki returned to the team of Manolo Sáez (now known as Liberty Seguros-Wurth) in 2005. Beloki finished his 2005 Tour de France and finished in 75th position. At the Vuelta a Espana, he did not finish the race, despite being acknowledged, as his overall ranking was just 39th.

Beloki became a professional in 1998, joining Euskaltel-Euskadi. He joining Festina in 2000 and joined Team ONCE in 2001. A strong climber in high mountains, and a top performer in time trials for individual riders and time trials, he made the podium three times in his three starts in the Tour de France: in 2000 (3rd place) in 2001 (3rd position) as well as 2002 (2nd 2nd place). Beloki is the sole winner of Lance Armstrong’s run with seven straight Tour victories to not have been accused of doping although he was not retrospectively awarded victory during the overall classification in 2002, after Armstrong’s victories were stripped. The year 2001 was also a great one for Beloki. Beloki placed first overall at the Volta a Catalunya.

On the 14th of July, 2003, in part 9 of 2003’s Tour de France, Beloki was second all-around (just 40 seconds slower than Armstrong) and was making an acceleration of about 40mph while going downhill from the Cote de La Rochette, just after crossing the Col de Manse, just 4 km away from the finish line at Gap. He lost control of the bike after locking his rear brake , and his rear tire fell off the bicycle onto a patch of asphalt which was softened by the sun. It sent the rear wheel swerving first in one direction, and then in the opposite direction. Beloki fell hard which broke his right femur in two locations including his elbow and wrist. Armstrong was immediately following Beloki and, in order to stay clear of the fallen rider, veered away from the road and went down the hill in the underbrush, and then across an uninvolved field. The crash ended the career of Beloki as a top cyclist.
