José Limón is one of the most popular and richest Choreographer who was born on January 12, 1908 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Most famous for his work on The Moor’s Pavane which was a 1949 dance performance inspired by Othello choreographer from Mexico. This Mexican-born choreographer and performer is known because of the “Limon technique” of modern dance instruction. Through his professional career as a teacher in The Juilliard School and headed the Lincoln Center’s American Dance Theatre.

He was a dancer in a Charles Weidman-choreographed Broadway production of the Irving Berlin musical As Thousands Cheer.

A member of the family of 11 and his first childhood at Culiacan, Mexico, and most of his childhood was spent in Los Angeles, California. Unfortunately, he and wife both passed away from cancer in the 1970s.
