He toured with Robbie Williams on the British pop star’s Close Encounters Tour in 2006.

He had a brief spell as a pop-music singer, his single “Just Another Day” went to No. 24 in the UK Singles Chart.
Wilkes participates and assists in the organisation of Soccer Aid, an event he has been involved in since 2006 with his friend Robbie Williams.
He married Nikki Wheeler in 2004 and has a son named Mickey.
