Jon Ridgeon is one of the most popular and richest Olympic Athlete who was born on February 14, 1967 in Bury St Edmunds, England, United Kingdom. Jonathan (“Jon”) Peter Ridgeon (born 14 February 1967) is an English former athlete who competed in the 110m hurdles as well as the 400m hurdles. For the 110m hurdles he took home an Olympic silver medal during the 1987 World Championships and the gold medal at the 1987 Universiade. He was a representative of Great Britain at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and also at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Ridgeon studied at Magdalene College, Cambridge. In 1998, he was a founder and the executive partner in Fast Track, a sports marketing agency (the agency was acquired at the end of 2007 ). In addition to working for Fast Track, Ridgeon has also worked as a television anchor for BBC as well as BSkyB after his retirement in the field of athletics.

Ridgeon was awarded the 110m hurdles gold medal in 1987 at the Universiade (World University Games) in Zagreb.

Ridgeon is a native of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. He was the winner of the 110m hurdles in the European Junior Championship in 1985 in front of colleague British competitor Colin Jackson, who finished as runner-up. Ridgeon was second to Jackson in the 1986 World Junior Championships. He was a representative of England in the 110m hurdles event during the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland.

In 1987, at the World Championships in Rome, Ridgeon took home the Silver medal for the 110-meter obstacles (with Jackson taking the bronze medal). Ridgeon ended up finishing fifth in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul (where Jackson was second). But Ridgeon with Jackson’s fun was relatively short-lived because Ridgeon started to experience injuries which led to his absence from the majority of important events over the next years.

In 2018, Ridgeon was appointed chief executive officer of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
