He appeared in the film “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” from 2018. was in the film The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story in the role of Modesto Cunanan, the father of Gianni Versace’s killer, Andrew Cunanan, and in American Horror Story: Apocalypse as Ariel Augustus.

On April 30, 2019, Briones was received the Visionary Award from East West Players during their annual awards dinner and silent auction. The award is given to celebrate individuals that are able raise the visibility of Asian Pacific Americans through their work. While a student of engineering studying engineering in the Philippines Briones began to be involved in the first 1989 London production Miss Saigon. Briones knew a friend whom was also a producer from the Philippines who wanted Briones to “facilitate an audition” for Cameron Mackintosh team that was holding an audition in The Philippines to be Miss Saigon. Alongside helping organize an audition, Briones personally auditioned and later became a member of the team.

He was involved in numerous productions on tour including Miss Saigon, as a swing, and also in other roles before settling on the role of the Engineer. In 2014, he was part of in the cast that was originally part of Miss Saigon West End revival as the role of Engineer. The show was shortlisted for nominations to the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in Musical for his performance in this role , and was awarded the Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Actor in the Musical. He was in the role until it was shut down on February 27 in 2016.

In January 2019, it was announced that Briones will star in the upcoming Netflix drama series Ratched.
