From 2011 Fosse was granted access to the Grotten as an honorary residence that is owned to the Norwegian state. It is located within the grounds of the Royal Palace in the city central area of Oslo. The use for the Grotten as home for the entire time is an honor specifically conferred upon the Queen of Norway for his contributions to Norwegian cultural and artistic life.

Fosse was awarded the 2015 Nordic Council’s Literature Prize for Andvake, Olavs draumar and Kveldsvævd.

Fosse was one of the literary advisors to Bibel 2011, a Norwegian translation of the Bible that was published in 2011.
