Jonathan (“Jon”) Michael Brown (born 27 February 1971) is male Welsh born and former British long-distance athlete who excelled in 10,000 meters in cross country, as well as the marathon.

The birthplace of his father was Bridgend, Wales, he was part of his club, the City of Sheffield Athletic Club in England during his time in the sport. He obtained Canadian citizenship in the year 2005 having lived in Canada since

1996. He was able to remain available to Britain until he switched to the Canadian side at the beginning of 2008.

He was the 1996 winner of the European Cross Country Championships and is three times Olympian and placed fourth at two different Olympic Games whilst representing Great Britain. He has twice represented Britain in the World Championships in Athletics, running 5000m in 1993 and 10,000 meters in 1999. The five times competitor in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships with his best result being eighth in 1999. In 1994, at the Goodwill Games he took the bronze medal in the 5000-meter race. He also finished an impressive fourth in 1998’s European Athletics Championships 10,000 m with a time of two and a half second behind the German’s Stephane Franke.
