Haines was able to hold onto his place on the tour, starting 2014 . 64th in the Order of Merit, claiming the last automatic spot open. In the UK Open he lost 5-4 to Nigel Heydon in the second round. In the 7th Players Championship he advanced to the final 16 in the last an entire year, winning three matches, including the 6-2 win over Raymond van Barneveld however, he fell the match 6-3 against Ben Ward. Haines had a nine-dart win in the 10th tournament during the victory over Jelle Klaasen, advancing to the last 16 once again and was defeated by Dean Winstanley. Haines defeated Denis Ovens and Peter Wright both 6-4 in the initial round of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy and was 4-1 in front in front of Steve Beaton in the third round. He missed several match darts and was defeated 6-5. Haines missed qualifying for 2014 World Championship by just PS500 on the Pro Tour Order of Merit.
A disappointing 2016 saw Haines reach the last 64 of six events and he lost at this stage every time. He was knocked out 6–5 by Gary Stone in the first round of the UK Open.
Haines his best performance of 2012 was reaching finals in his participation in the Dutch Darts Masters in Nuland after defeating Peter Wright, Raymond van Barneveld and Jamie Caven along the way and then losing by 2-6 in the quarterfinal in the quarter-finals to Simon Whitlock.

Haines made his TV debut during the UK Open at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton being a qualified amateur. He was beaten 7-9 by Mark Dudbridge in the last 64, earning him PS1,000.

Haines eliminated Christian Soethe 6–4 and Benito van de Pas 6–3 at the European Darts Open, but lost 6–1 to Michael van Gerwen in the third round. The £2,000 he earned was his biggest cheque of 2015.
