John McGee (born January 27 1973) was an ex- Republican Member of the Idaho Senate who represented in the 10th District from 2004-2012. He was also Chairman of the Majority Caucus Chairman.

On the 21st of August of 2012 McGee admitted guilt to probation violations and a charge of disturbing the peace connected to sexual harassment which was witnessed in the Idaho State Capital Building. Fourth District Magistrates James Cawthon sentenced McGee to 44 days in prison in connection with disturbing peace, and 44 days of jail for violating the conditions of his probation arising from the DUI conviction.

John McGee is a lifelong resident of Caldwell, ID. He graduated from Vallivue High School (Falcon Pride!) in 1991 and received a BA in History from the College of Idaho in 1995. He was elected student body president at both institutions. McGee and his wife, Hanna, have been married since 2005 and live in Caldwell with their daughter Madalyn and son, Maxwell. McGee served the citizens of Caldwell, Greenleaf and Wilder of District 10 in the Idaho State Legislature. He was first elected in 2004 when he beat an incumbent senator in the Republican primary election and ran unopposed in the general election. He was named 2006 Idaho State Republican Legislator of the Year. John McGee resigned from the Idaho State Senate on February 22, 2012.

Shortly after the run off was announced, former Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter, endorse McGee in the run-off.. On December 3rd, 2019 McGee defeated Beechler in the run off with 2,072 votes, or 60.7% of the vote. It was noted by the media that the turn out in the run-off election was higher than that in the general election.

On the 19th of June in 2011, McGee was taking part in the Hillcrest Invitational golf tournament and was drinking on the course later that evening. He then took a stolen SUV, which was that was attached to an utility trailer and drove it through the residential area and then jack-knifed the vehicle and trailer in the front yard. Ada County police officers arrested McGee for grand theft of his vehicle and driving while under the impaired. At the time of his arrest, his blood alcohol level was at .15 which was lower than the legal limit for the State of .08. On the 1st of July, 2011, McGee pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of DUI. He was charged with felony theft as well as driving a vehicle in violation of the law without consent were thrown out. The judge sent McGee to 180-days in prison with five days suspended. He was also required to perform three days of community service and to pay fines and the cost of restitution.
