John David Guise Cannan (born 20 February 1954) is a British murderer and a rapist. Cannan was a former auto salesman, was found guilty on July 28, 1988, of sexual and murder crimes. He was sentenced to three lifetime sentences, and was given the condition that he will never be released. He was convicted of killing of Shirley Banks in Bristol in October 1987 The attempted kidnapping by Julia Holman on the previous night, as well as the rape that took place on an unidentified lady located in Reading, Berkshire in 1986.
