Joseph Ronald Beimel (pronounced “BUY mul”) (born April 19th 1977) is an American professional baseball player who played for the past few years. He was a part of Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, Seattle Mariners as well as the Colorado Rockies. Beimel was famous for his unique slider pitch and his high change that kept batters guessing on the field. Beimel is just the one MLB player to wear the number 97.

He made his Major League debut as the starter on April 8th, 2001 against the Houston Astros, pitching 5 innings, while allowing 2 runs, and registering his first win of his career. He played as an reliever and a starter in the same season. He finished with seven wins and an ERA 5.23. 5.23 in 42 games, 15 of which were as an ace.
