The year 2007 was the time that Cuddihy made the decision to end her medical studies and concentrate only on her athletics for the duration of a whole year. In April 2007 , Cuddihy relocated into Los Angeles in the United States for specialized coaching with Dan Pfaff. In June 9th Cuddihy took first place in the 200-meter race within Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with an average speed in the range of 23.80 seconds. At the end of June, she competed in the European Cup First League ‘A match, where she competed in the Irish 4 x 100 metre relay team, which finished in third place. The 2007, British Grand Prix in July Cuddihy placed third in the 400 meters ahead of Nicola Sanders and Monique Henaghan. The same month, she was the winner of both the 200 metres and 400 meters events during the Irish National Senior Track and Field Championships and it was the second time in a row that she won both. Cuddihy was a participant at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics in Osaka, Japan that August. She was among the top athletes of the season in the heats and qualified for the semi-finals, with the third place finish. In the semi- finals, she posted an individual best time of 50.73 seconds, which set the new Irish national record. This made it the only Irish woman to be the first to been able to run under 51 seconds over 400 meters. In spite of this she didn’t get to the final. The new Irish record also permitted for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. In the middle and early part of 2008, she had knee issues however, which impacted her potential to compete in the Olympics. Despite this she participated in the finals of the 400m but failed to make it to the semi-finals. She claimed that competing at the Olympics “would have been a dream come true if [she] wasn’t injured”.
In 2011, Cuddihy moved to Australia for full-time training. At the European Team Championships in mid-June Cuddihy was part of the Irish team that finished tenth overall, retaining their position in the 1st League. On 25 June, Cuddihy won the 400 metres race during a meet in Nivelles, Belgium, with a time of 53.28 seconds. In early August, Cuddihy once again won the 400 metres at the Irish national championships, finishing with a time of 52.15 metres. Cuddihy competed at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea in the 400 metres after securing the B-standard qualifying time. She came third in her heat, qualifying for the semi-finals with a time of 51.82 seconds. During the semi-finals however, Cuddihy was disqualified after a false start. She returned to compete in the 4 x 400 metres relay. She, along with Marian Andrews-Heffernan, Claire Bergin, and Michelle Carey set a new Irish record of 3:27.48, but failed to qualify for the final after finishing fourth in their heat.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Cuddihy qualified for the semi-finals of the 400m as a fastest loser with a time of 52.09. She failed to make the final after finishing fifth in her semi-final. Cuddihy retired from professional athletics following the Olympics.
In the 18 months prior the month of July, 2006 Cuddihy was suffering from glandular fever. He had operations performed on cartilage of both knees. In the 2006 National Track and Field Championships Cuddihy ran her personal best at 23.33 seconds to take the 200 meters title and set a world record of 51.28 for the 400m. Her record for the championship was the fastest run by an Irishwoman in Ireland. The next month, in the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg Cuddihy was able to make it to semi-finals in the 400m with the race in 51.41 seconds, which was third in her heat. She was then invited to the final by placing at third place in her semi-final and also achieving the personal record that was 51.09 seconds. She placed eighth in the final in the time that was 51.46 seconds. Cuddihy was also a part of the Irish 4 x 100m relay team in the European Championships, alongside Derval O’Rourke, Ailis McSweeney, and Anna Boyle. The team failed to finish in the final, but established the new Irish records for this event with 44.38 seconds.

After winning silver in the European Athletics Junior Championships in 2003, Cuddihy entered senior competition. In 2003, at the World Championships in Athletics held in Paris, France, Cuddihy was able to compete in to compete in the Final of the 400 meter race with the time in the range of 53.68 seconds. She was part of the 2004 Irish National Indoor Championships in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in which she took the 400m in the record-breaking time of 53.50 seconds, beating Moushaumi Robinson. In the wake of her performance she was selected to make the Irish team for the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships held in April. Cuddihy placed 6th in the heat of 400m, but was unable to make it to the next level. Cuddihy was also part of the four-x 400m relay together with Michelle Carey, Karen Shinkins as well as Ciara Sheehy. At the end of July, 2004, Cuddihy placed second at the Irish National Championships behind Shinkins. In the year 2001, at the IAAF/Westel World Youth Championships, Cuddihy was able to make it to an event in the finals of 400m by placing the second heat. She ran a the time of 54.16 which was the season’s best. On July 14 Cuddihy was fifth in the finals of the World Youth Championships. The following year , at the IAAF/Coca Cola World Junior Championships at Kingston, Jamaica, Cuddihy placed 6th in the championship. On the 12th of June, 2003 during a European GP meeting in Riga, Latvia, Cuddihy broke the junior Irish record for the national championship in the 400m race by clocking 53.21 seconds. When she competed in the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, California in June Cuddihy finished second in the race in the race with the time that was 53.85 seconds. In the following month, she was awarded silver during the 2003 European Athletics Junior Championships in the 400m.
In early July 2009, she participated in the 200 metres at the World University Games, successfully reaching the semi-finals. She finished her semi-final with a time of 24.53 seconds, leaving her in fifth place, which meant she did not reach the final. Cuddihy did not participate in the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, as she had taken time out to focus on her academic studies. Following a hiatus, Cuddihy returned to athletics at the Melbourne Track Classic in March 2010, where she placed third in the 400 metres with a time of 52.95 seconds. In early July 2010, Cuddihy won the Irish National Championships in the 400 metres with a time of 52.76 seconds. At the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, Spain, Cuddihy made the semi- finals, but was unable to make the final after finishing fourth in her semi- final and missing a fastest loser position. She was also a member of the Irish 4 x 400 metres relay team alongside Marian Andrews, Brona Furlong, and Michelle Carey which failed to progress from the heats after finishing sixth.
