Joanna Scott is one of the most popular and richest Novelist who was born on June 22, 1960 in Darien, Connecticut, United States. Joanna Scott (born 1960) is an American writer who is also the Roswell Smith Burrows Professor in English in Rochester’s University of Rochester.

Her stories have been published within Best American Stories (1993) as well as The Pushcart Prize (1993). In 1992, she was awarded The Aga Khan Award in Fiction awarded by The Paris Review for her story “A Borderline Case.” In 2006, she received the Ambassador Book Award for her novel Liberation. Her books have been finalist in The Pulitzer Prize, the PEN-Faulkner Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Award.

Scott earned her master’s degree at Brown University in 1985 and taught creative writing at Brown University in addition to in The University of Maryland and Princeton University. Since 1987, she has been part of the English Department of the University of Rochester which is where she has taught classes that focus on writing creatively, contemporary fiction, contemporary novels and The writings of Charles Dickens and other subjects. She also serves on the editorial board that contributes to the writing for the journal literary Conjunctions.

She received an honorary doctor of letters degree from Trinity College (Connecticut) in 2009.
