Miller joined the Parliament in the 2000 by-election following the resignation of the previous member for Bundamba, Bob Gibbs. Bundamba is considered to be a secure place for Labor. Labor Party, and Miller was the winner of every election in the seat from 2001 until 2017.
On the 4th of December, the 4th of December, 2015 Miller quit her cabinet in the wake of an investigation by the Queensland Parliamentary Ethics Committee Report declaring that even though she was not found disobeying the rules in the House of Representatives, she been guilty of an “pattern of reckless conduct.” The inquiry was focused on the fact that Miller had signed a statement which stated that she had properly deleted secret Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee documents, which were later discovered to be a secret document by an Opposition MP inside the safe that was which was used to store the documents.
In January 2020, it was reported that Miller was considering resigning her seat in order to contest the City of Ipswich mayoral election, to be held on 28 March. Miller resigned as the Member for Bundamba on 20 February 2020, but announced she would not seek election to Ipswich City Council.
