Jim Presley is one of the most popular and richest Baseball Player who was born on October 23, 1961 in Pensacola, United States. James Arthur Presley (born October 23rd in 1961) is an ex- Major League Baseball infielder with an eight-year playing career that ran from 1984 until 1991. He was a player with The Seattle Mariners of the American League and also the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres of the National League. He was mostly an third baseman, but played a bit at first base. He was known as “Hound Dog”.
When he was playing for Seattle during the year 1986 Presley made history as the first player of Major League history to hit two grand slams that were walk-offs during the same season. He also hit two grand slams in the same year, Cy Williams, who had made it happen in 1926. In the year 1986 Presley received a spot on the American League All-Star team after hitting .265 with 27 home runs and a record highest 107 RBIs. The injuries began to thwart his career just a few years after, and by 1992, he’d changed from playing into coaching.
On December 21, 2005 he was signed to be the hitting coach for the Florida Marlins. He was fired along with manager Fredi González and bench coach Carlos Tosca on June 23, 2010. He was replaced on an interim basis by John Mallee, who was the Marlins minor league hitting coordinator.
On October 8, 2010 Presley was inducted into the Escambia High School Sports Hall of Fame during halftime of an EHS football game along with former Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith and a few other EHS alumni.
In 1985 the Mariners were last in the standings however, Presley was a force to reckon with, hitting the home run of 28 and an .275 per-inning average. When 1986 came around, Presley received a vote from the crowd to make the All- Star team, however Presley didn’t see much activity between Wade Boggs and Brook Jacoby. In the same year, Presley made baseball history by becoming the only player to hit two walk-off grand slams during one season. Prior to that, the only other player to do this had been Cy Williams. In 1987 the power numbers of his (24 home runs) and his the batting average (.247) decreased. But, he was a leader in his team in the American League in assist In 1990, Seattle traded Presley to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for the career minor league player Ken Pennington and pitcher Gary Eave. Presley was at Atlanta for one season , and joined the San Diego Padres as a free agent in the year 1991. He played in just the 20-game season for San Diego and then was moving to the Texas Rangers. Presley did not ever play in the major leagues for Texas He instead played with their Triple A farm team The Oklahoma City 89ers.

When he was a kid He played baseball in his local Dixie Youth association, first at Pensacola Brent then later Pensacola Myrtle Grove. In 1978, he was a graduate of Escambia High School in 1978.
The Seattle Mariners drafted Presely in the 4th round of the June MLB draft in 1979. This was the same draft that was attended by Seattle pick the pitcher Bud Black, pitcher Tom Henke and outfielder Jack Thompson, who’d spur the Mariners to join the Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL. Presley made his professional debut at 17 with Seattle’s Single-A team known as known as the Bellingham Mariners. The team was originally drafted as a shortstop, but Presely changed to third base during his short-term career in minor leagues. This helped his chances since, even though Presley struggled at the lower levels with his bat Seattle was drafted in the year 1982. Spike Owen in the first round of the draft in 1982 and quickly pushed to the major leagues. While Presley displayed power, hitting over 20 homers numerous times but his batting average was sagging. In 1984, while an athlete of the Triple A Salt Lake City Gulls, Presely was one of the best seasons as a professional, hitting .317 which included 13 home runs. The season earned him an invitation to the majors in order to fill in for the third position, restricted by veteran Larry Milbourne. Seattle had considered Darnell Coles as a candidate for the position however he was unable to be healthy enough to last long enough. With the shortstop Spike Owen, power hitting first baseman Alvin Davis, Seattle had the potential of a strong infield.
Presley got his first chance to be a manager in 2004 when he was named to manage the Missoula Osprey of the Pioneer League. He only managed the team for two seasons, compiling a 61-88 record. Presely has served as a hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998-2000, Florida Marlins from 2006-2010, The Baltimore Orioles from 2011-2014 and the Texas Rangers from 2016-2017. In 2018, the Chinatrust Brothers of the CPBL named Presley as their hitting coach.
