Jim Carroll is one of the most popular and richest Autobiographer who was born on August 1, 1949 in Manhattan, New York, United States. An American writer as well as a spoken-word poet and musician The most famous of his works is for his autobiography, The Basketball Diaries. He released a sequel to his autobiography, Forced Entries: The Downtown Diaries 1971-1973, in 1987.

His book, The Basketball Diaries, was made into a film which starred Leonardo DiCaprio.

Carroll founded and began editing internet music magazine Muse in 1997. It was subsequently purchased by Irish telco Eircom.

Carroll is a co-founder of the Choice Music Prize, an annual music award given to one Irish album from ten nominations. He also has a radio programme on Dublin’s Phantom FM. In 1997 he founded the internet music magazine Muse.
