Jett Craze was born on 23 March 1974 in London, England, to Edward Craze, entrepreneur and Sophia Craze, writer. The idea for his name was The Paul McCartney and Wings song, “Jet” which peaked at No. 7, on the chart on 30 March 1974. Second “t” in his name was added by his parents because they considered it distinctive and, if nothing else, it looked more attractive. He relocated together with sister Galaxy Craze the author and writer Of By The Shore and Tiger, Tiger and Tiger, Tiger to The United States at the age of two. They went on a journey through California, Florida and New York City before finally settling at Amherst, MA.

Craze started his career playing mostly indie rock, however, he gradually , he began to add electronic elements in the year 2006, when he started exploring his solo projects as well as his own other band So Deadly. The first album he released as a solo artist Strategy for Sleeping was released in 2008. Craze continues to compose and create commercially and is scheduled to release his second album in the winter of 2012.

Along with the trio’s album, Craze sent along some of his own self-written, performed and produced material including a song called “Story,” which was used in the same film and garnered him attention as a solo artist. Given the success of the song and positive feedback, Craze went on to complete the project, finishing Strategy for Sleeping in 2008. Several songs off of his album were used in another of Sender Film’s docs, First Ascent along with tracks from Local Beauty, an EP released in 2008 by So Deadly, Craze’s electronic rock side project with singer/songwriter Moana McReynolds. The successful relationship with Sender Films and success of his music in the projects led to more work with the production company. In 2007, three of his songs were used in the feature film, King Lines, as well as in 2008’s The Sharp End and in the 2010 TV series First Ascent.

During the summer of 2011, Craze continued to work on his next solo album with producer Stella Heine and manager Kristin Frost and will begin to promote and release songs off his new album beginning in February 2012.

At the age of 16, Jett made the move in 1996 to New York City (where Jett wouldn’t require cars) to complete his studies in Hunter College and continue to compose songs. He was a songwriter for a long time as well as learning to play the guitar. Soon after moving, Craze formed his first of several bands, appropriately called Jett Craze. The trio of indie rock, consisting of bassist Veronica Vasicka and drummer Emiel Pijnaker, played a variety of concerts throughout New York City, including places like The Mercury Lounge, Galapagos, The Luna Lounge, Brownies and Continental. Emiel was later replaced by a new drummer Andrei Zakow. The year 2004 saw Jett Craze released their first album Jett Craze that featured many tracks for their 2005 film Return2Sender which was a documentary about rock climbing made by Jett’s buddies film makers Nick Rosen and Peter Mortimer of Sender Films.

Jett Craze (born 23 March 1974) is a New York-based indie rock musician as a singer-songwriter, record artist and composer of music. The singer-songwriter was raised in London, England, and was raised in Amherst, Massachusetts, he went to his studies at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, and Hunter College in New York, NY. He returned into New York City in 1994 in which he became engrossed in the writing of songs and began learning to play guitar. He formed various rock groups starting in 1996, and played shows across New York City. The albums of his band, Jett Craze and With Friends received attention from groups , and their music was included in a variety of the Sender Film’s award winning documentaries on rock climbing. In addition, Craze’s solo career has earned him recognition and commercial success. In this summer in 1994 Craze started to develop an idea for new songs. When he thinks about that his life, Craze recalls, “I became so obsessed and stoned that I forgot to stop writing lyrics down before I actually started driving.” Craze was involved in a accident and was able to escape without injury however, not without wrecking the “really cool” 1970 VW Bus that was also his residence in the time. This incident marked a moment of turning point when Craze made the decision to stop driving as well as write more.

Craze has also scored and produced music for many of Sender Film and Camp 4Collective’s major commercial clients, including The North Face, Cliff and Garmin. Additionally, Craze has produced music for the 2008 NBC Sports Jeep World of Adventure segment on freebase climber Dean Potter, NYMag.com’s 2008 online web series Where’s Rogan and the documentary film Bi The Way, released in 2008, as well.
