At the time, her dad Derek Allister was a graduate student at the University of Idaho and assistant basketball coach at Moscow High School in Moscow, Idaho. Allister lived her early years within the Palouse, San Francisco Bay Area in addition to Reno, Nevada, when her father was an assistant for the men’s basketball coach for the college teams in Washington State, California, and Nevada. When she was 11 she relocated into Nacogdoches, Texas, when Derek was appointed the assistant coach of Stephen F. Austin in 1993. Allister was a student at Nacogdoches High School from 1996 to 2000, during which time Derek was the head trainer in Stephen F. Austin.

After just one year after a single season in Oregon, Allister was hired as the head coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers program. Her appointment was announced on the 10th of August 2010. After seven seasons with Minnesota Allister’s winning-loss score is 290-107.

Allister’s third assistant coaching position came at the University of Oregon as hitting coach, recruiting coordinator, and primary contact for admissions, compliance, and eligibility.

Following her stint with the Bulldogs, Allister went back to her alma mater and joined John Rittman’s coaching staff at Stanford. Under Allister’s tutelage, Rose Neill won back-to-back conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2008 and 2009. Allister was also a part of the 2009 West Regional Coaching Staff of the Year, as awarded and honored by the NFCA. Allister’s streak of appearances in the NCAA tournament continued, as the Cardinal made the postseason tournament in all three seasons of her 2nd go-around in Palo Alto.

Allister was a part of the 2004 and the 2005 summer seasons as a player in the New England Riptide of National Pro Fastpitch. For 87 of the games played, Allister had a .197 average in batting 12, 12 RBI and one home run and the .987 percent fielding.

Jessica Lynne Allister (born October 7 in 1982) is an American softball coach and former catcher. She is currently the director of coaching at Stanford Her Alma mater. Prior to that, Allister was head coach at Minnesota from 2011 until 2017.

In Stanford University, Allister had an outstanding playing career with his Stanford Cardinal softball team. Allister holds the record of her school for the number of games played, with 266. Allister was a three-time All-Conference selection. she helped her team make four appearances at the NCAA tournament as well as two appearances at the 2001 Women’s College World Series. She was the starting pitcher of the Cardinal from the start of the season to the conclusion of her playing career. Allister was named the second team NFCA All- American honors and first-team All-Pac-10 recognition in 2004, her senior season , in which Stanford again won it to the women’s College World Series. Allister earned her degree with her name throughout the record book, which included top-three in numerous areas of offense (including the home run and RBI) and top-ten rankings in many other categories. Allister was awarded a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Following the Golden Gopher’s epic 2017 season that saw them set numerous records and achieve the first #1 National ranking in program history, Allister agreed to return to her alma mater, Stanford, and revive the once proud program. 2017–18 will mark Allister’s return to the Farm and signal a new chapter in Stanford softball history.
