It would go on to win “best feature” at the 2000 Jamerican film and music festival and the “Audience choice award” at the 2001 Hollywood Black Film Festival. In 2003, Lamothe directed Nora’s Hair Salon starring, Jenifer Lewis, Lil’ Kim, Tamala Jones, Tatyana Ali, Bobby Brown, Jean-Claude La Marre and Whitney Houston. That same year, he was listed on Blackfilm.com’s top ten people to watch list.
