Jason Scott ‘JCarver’ Somerville (born on April 15 1987) is an American poker player who is specialized on Texas Hold’em. He holds only one World Series of Poker bracelet and 3.9 million the live results of tournaments. He is the creator of Run It UP, a live stream video series where viewers are invited to “watch, listen, and learn as he turns $50 into $10,000”. Somerville published the first episode of his YouTube series called “Eating Cake” to YouTube on December 2nd 2011. Following the time that Russell Thomas made the final table at the 2012 WSOP Main Event, he reached out to Somerville to assist him in preparing in the three months prior to the event on October 28. Somerville recorded the event in a documentary series of six episodes called “The Final Table”.
In April 2011, online poker was shut down in the USA. Somerville was mostly absent from online tournament poker until 2013 when Ultimate Poker brought legalized and regulated online poker back to America, having chosen not to relocate out of the country. Jason played on Ultimate Poker until it was shut down in 2014 because the Nevada-based site’s revenues fell far short of projected expectations.
On Valentine’s Day of 2012, Somerville came out as gay in a blog post. He is the first, and currently the only, openly gay high-stakes male player.
