Jason Forrest is one of the most popular and richest Record Producer who was born on April 5, 1972 in Fort Mill, South Carolina, United States. He founded the record label Cock Rock Disco to release his own music in 2000 while living within New York City. He self-released for three years his first CD-R releases with the exception of “Rock Non Rock” and “Belligerent Super Vision”, the first full-length album he had never released. In the year 2005 Cock Rock Disco began the release of other artists like Duran Duran Duran, Drumcorps, Otto von Schirach, About The Assdroids and the Dev/Null. The label currently has (as as of November the year 2009) 18 full-length albums as well as 15 12″-only releases, and releases bi-monthly, albums with only free MP3s and there are 19 available and growing rapidly.
A full-length album of Mp3 for free was released in December 2005. It is available online and available for download at no cost. It has been downloaded more than 70k times. In April 2009, a brand new compilation that was free “Monsters of Cock Rock Disco” was released. The compilation contains fresh faces to Captain Ahab in addition to their regular lineup of artists.
In 2008, Forrest began a new label that focused exclusively on club-friendly music called Nightshifters together with New York City Dj Jubilee. The label works mainly with a small group of musicians including AC Slater, Hostage, Rob Threezy, Proper Villains, Jubilee, Rampage, and Forrest himself as Dj Donna Summer.
The label releases “EP” length releases of usually 4 original tracks and 2-4 remixes per release. To date (Nov 2009) the label has released 9 mp3-only releases, 3 Dj mixes, and a T-shirt. Remixers have included Jokers Of The Scene, Mikix the Cat, Angel Alanis, Scott Cooper, Luna-C, Grahmzilla, DreSkull, and Blatta & Inesha.
The year 2005 was the time that Forrest was the co-founder of Wasted Festival to present breakcore artists and other related acts. The mini-festival was launched in collaboration together with Club Transmediale, and ran at least ten shows.
